Immersed in Music Welcomes Camela Widad Kraemer, our new vocal instructor, who began teaching individual vocal lessons this week. Camela will be teaching both Mondays and Tuesdays during band rehearsal times. In addition to individual lessons, she will also make herself available to do mini lessons with IIM singers as needed. There are still just a few spots available by calling Rick Batley at 717-592-0138.

Studio Sound Engineering classes have also begun with lots of hands on experience, as students sit side by side with Dave Kelly in the studio learning about mic placement, sound levels and how to actually work the board as the student bands lay down their tracks. Once recording is finished, they will have the opportunity to help with the mixing process, where they can add effects and manipulate levels to enhance the overall sound on a given song. “Fever” is spending time recording this week as they work to get their 3 prepared songs started in the studio.

The rest of the bands spent time during rehearsals this week adding new material. Students brainstormed song choices, shared ideas, argued (politely!), and negotiated among themselves as they settled on material by One Direction, Tryhardninja, Pink, The Police, and Nirvana. “Charlemagne” worked to prepare for their week in the studio next week by fine tuning verse and chorus sections and helping their new member David learn keyboard parts to the 3 songs they plan to record.
