IIM Staff Studying Guidelines for Reopening; Bucket Drumming 101 Camp Now A Go!

IIM senior staff has begun studying a copy of PA’s preliminary guidelines for the phased reopening of schools that the Wolf administration made available this week. We are also examining CDC guidelines for reopening schools and having conversations with the Londonderry School administration so we can determine the safest way to operate in the Fall.

As excited and hopeful as we are to get our students playing music together physically, our number one priority is, and always will be, their health and safety. To that end, we will be taking the coming weeks to formulate plans that enable us to accomplish this.

One immediate piece of good news is that Wade has secured permission for him to operate his Bucket Drumming 101 Summer Camp, and will proceed to organize this so that every participant will wear a mask and maintain the necessary social distancing. This camp uses only plastic buckets and drum sticks, with a whole lot of creativity and fun, in a large open space. Therefore, cleaning of equipment and following all health and safety guidelines is relatively simple.

Bucket Drumming 101 is open to anyone 8 years old and above. You don’t have to be a drummer to jump in and enjoy what promises to be a great opportunity to shake off the doldrums of the last few months and have some fun! Check out the immersedinmusic.com website for more information on this, as well as IIM’s online summer musical opportunities.
