Live Sound will start on September 16th. Immersed in Music is offering an extended Early Bird Discount from now until September 6th!
Session one Live Sound occurs on Monday night from September 16th through the beginning of June 2025
The Primary Goal
This course is an in-depth hands-on exploration of Live Sound Engineering with exposure to both analog and digital equipment. The year starts with the basics of live sound and works through a more advanced understanding of how a Public Address (PA) system works. Students will learn to set up a PA system, route outboard effects, and learn multiple mic-ing techniques. They will practice mixes through the PA using live tracks with individual channel control. They will learn how to EQ individual instruments, as well as overall mixes for different applications. Through this practice, they will come to understand the fundamentals of routing, groups, and outboard effects, and learn how to identify and correct feedback frequencies. Students will have opportunities to mix live bands in both controlled and live show environments. This will also give students the ability to learn how to set up proper gain structure and stages for different applications, given multiple techniques to choose from. As a student develops a working knowledge, they will learn the subtle nuances to get certain sounds.
