… Choosing a summer camp can seem daunting. As a parent, we look to choose a program that will serve our child’s individual needs in a safe, fun, and interactive environment. FUNdamental Drumming is a program designed to help develop creative, social, and physical skills while building the foundation of a
young musician through hands-on student to instructor supervision. Simultaneous side by side activity teaches students how to work together and help one another in achieving common goals.

FUNdamental Drumming is a program designed for anyone age 8 and above. The camp will be created to fit the skill level of students who attend, with the following possible areas to be covered:

● Kit setup and teardown – understanding the equipment and drummer individuality
● Basic hand and foot technique – how to properly hold the stick and hit
● Timing and tempo – finding and keeping the beat within your favorite song
● Simple charting and notation – how to read and write musical drum score
● Playing along with a song – simple beats to fit a multitude of songs
● Understanding time signature – not just your basic 4/4 anymore
● Beat recognition – finding the correct beat pattern within a song
● Hand and foot independence – separation of limb coordination
● High hat technique – opening and closing in beat and timing control
● Playing along with a band – experience with live musicians

Each child is responsible for bringing their own snacks and a water bottle.
