Young Rockers Having Fun at Camp and FUNdamental Drumming 2 Next Week

Habiba Miller and Alex Valsing are leading Immersed In Music Young Rockers in a week-long camp geared to beginning musicians trying out different instruments. The Young Rockers 10-month course gives students the opportunity to experiment with learning parts on drums, piano, guitar, bass, and vocals. The camp gives students these same opportunities, while hanging out for the week and having fun with their friends.

This week, students have chosen “Blitzkrieg Bop“ by The Ramones and “Faded“ by Alan Walker as two of the songs they have learned in preparation for their performance on Friday afternoon. They have worked well together, choosing songs, organizing arrangements, and collaborating on the choice of a band name. They’ve also enjoyed making posters, learning about social media marketing, and making t-shirts to wear during their performance.

IIM’s last camp of the summer will happen next week (8/12-16) when the FUNdamental Drumming 2 camp, led by Wade Corbin, helps more experienced drum students take their skills to the next level. Students will explore more complicated time signatures and beat patterns, experiment with hand and foot independence, and learn hi-hat technique.

A few spaces are still available for this half-day camp. Go online at immersedinmusic.com to sign up.

While you’re there, check out all of our 10-month and 3-month courses and classes, which begin in September. Registration is now open for all the 2019-20 bands, sound engineering, and writing and publishing opportunities, as well as Music Theory, Songwriting, and individual instrument lessons.
