Live Sound Engineering — Level 1

This class provides an excellent foundation of what it takes to be a live sound engineer. Students will learn how to set up and operate a basic public address (PA) system for both the musicians and the audience. As part of this class, the student will then work as sound engineers at the bands’ live performances in December.

Price for this class is $300 full payment or $100 per month for three (3) months.

Live Sound Engineering — Level 2

This class will advance the principles taught in Sound Engineering – Level 1. The student will be exposed to more advanced study of mixing boards (including digital mixers), effects units, power amps, crossover networks, speaker cabinets, wiring, etc. There will also be emphasis on proper technique for setting up and tearing down a professional sound system, basic sound check principles, how to properly equalize a sound system, identifying and correcting feedback frequencies, selection and use of microphones for different applications, etc. After this course, the student will be qualified to set up and operate a professional sound system. As part of this class, the student will then work as sound engineers at the bands’ live performances in December

Studio Engineering

From the beginner to the experienced, students will set up and run a real studio session, including correct microphone placement options, recording on Q-Base, and interacting with clients in a real recording session. This class begins in February, and meets both on-site and at an off-site recording studio.

Price for this class is $400 full payment or $100 per month for four (4) months.
