All of the bands now have their names chosen but one! The kids are more focused then we have seen them all year. An amazing cohesiveness has formed with all of the bands and most of them are really communicating well. We as a staff couldn’t be more pleased. There have been a few potholes along the way but the bands are really pulling together and most are in the process of choosing their third song.
Also we have rolled out a new pilot program called “Young Rockers” these are kids with a musical interest and some of them have even played an instrument before. These kids are already learning some basic skills while choosing their first song. Habiba Miller heads this program and Dave, Wade and Rick Stevens are supporting. We are so excited to be able to offer such a program, one that allows the students to get a more individualized attention when they need it. Most of the class the students have a 2 to 1 student ratio!
