And we’re off!
It was an action-packed first week for all IIM bands. Young Rockers, who come to the program with little or no musical experience, spent the first half of their rehearsal hour reviewing expectations and listening to some song options. The bands then worked together to select a first song, choose instruments and learn the song’s intro. Rockers 1,2 & 3 bands selected and started their first songs while Rockers 4 bands established goals for the year, including the number of original songs they would like to write and record, how they plan to use critique to stretch themselves as songwriters and musicians, and how they would like to release the songs they record.
At all levels musicians had no trouble jumping right in and rolling up shirtsleeves. Well done, everyone!
