Immersed In Music is starting a Three Month Rockers course, beginning in two weeks, which offers the opportunity for students who want to perform at one of our year-end shows alongside students from our Ten Month Programs. This “sample” experience gives a taste of what the full Rockers program is like.
The Three Month Rockers course will give young musicians the same experience and lead up to a live performance just like students in the Ten Month program. Although there isn’t time to prepare for and record in a studio like the longer program does, students will work together to choose songs and learn how to communicate with their bandmates. Reading sheet music, using chord charts and guitar/bass tabs, and playing by ear are all valid strategies that different musicians employ and that IIM staff encourage. Two-hour weekly rehearsals will give bands time to prepare for their live performance in early June.
One ongoing benefit of all Rockers levels is that students acquire life skills along with musical growth. This shorter program has all the same elements, but packaged in a shorter time frame. This makes the experience accessible to busy students who want to rock.
The cost of this Three Month Rockers course is $350 per person, which includes a $50 Materials fee and $300 tuition. This can be payable as a one-time payment or three monthly installments. Rehearsals will take place from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday evenings, beginning on March 19, 2019.
