Sound Engineering Class Gets Underway!

This week, IIM’s Sound Engineering Class got underway with students setting up the new computer equipment and familiarizing themselves again with the digital board.

They then recorded a bass track and adjusted the EQ to get a true “room sound.” Next, they copied it and compared their recorded sound with bass tracks on various other genres. Their challenge this week was to manipulate their recorded bass track to approximate the other styles by adjusting EQ and adding plug ins and effects.

The purpose of this exercise was to help them learn to identify frequencies of instruments in live sound settings, as well as increase their efficiency when recording in a studio.

Rockers and Young Rockers bands continued to work on honing their songs. All bands have now chosen and begun working on at least 3 songs. Several bands are also beginning to experiment with song writing.
