IIM Staff Meets To Map Our Way Forward

The IIM Staff met online earlier this week. We reconnected, had some fun together, and had a great discussion about both our short and long term goals.

Over the last few weeks, staff members have reached out to almost all of last year’s families to gather opinions about this school year and to explain some of the limitations that Immersed In Music is facing in the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. With no clear consensus from them, and with no current physical location due to Londonderry School’s cleaning protocols, we have decided to wait to offer in-person learning for now. In the interim, we will be offering a variety of online, short term, targeted classes.

A few of the ideas that staff members are developing include a hands-on sound engineering/recording-at-home class (either for individuals or small groups), individual or group songwriting classes, and possibly an expansion of the Advanced Young Rockers song development class that was popular this summer.

These short term options will begin sometime in October and will be offered in 4, 6, or 8 week durations. Cost for these are to be determined.

The staff is very open to other suggestions from students and families, so please contact us with your ideas.

Online individual instrument instruction for guitar, bass, vocals, drums, and piano will continue to be available year round. All instructors have space available and are currently taking new students. The current environment gives students a perfect opportunity to expand their skills on their particular instrument so they can be ready to join a higher level band once we can return.

Finally, while we are committed to keeping some of our programs going, we are also now meeting regularly to develop a much more expanded curriculum that will carry students from beginner to professional. We are very excited about the direction we expect to go once we can meet with everyone again in person. Our goal, as always, continues to be to provide a safe, fun, and challenging environment so that students of all ages can pursue their individual musical goals.
