Immersed in Music closed out the 2017-2018 Course year with two shows at Londonderry School on Monday and Tuesday evenings. All 12 bands performed over the course of both nights, giving students one last opportunity to show off their talents in a live setting.

The Watergate closed Monday night by wowing the audience with a blistering set of all original music, as they announced they would be moving on from Immersed in Music to pursue other musical opportunities. Alex Valsing, the group’s bass player was one of IIM’s initial students five years ago (when there were only nine kids in two bands). Since that time, Alex, along with four year veteran Noah Smull, went on to form the nucleus of what has become The Watergate. Alex also works on staff, helping Young Rocker bands develop their talents.

Tuesday’s show highlighted Wade Corbin’s Drum Ensemble performing their “Drum Wars” medley. Soft Lemonade opened the evening, Amplify Overload, Babies in Space, and Fever all played spirited sets. Finally, Charlemagne closed the night with an awesome set which included a performance of their first original song.

As the night ended with the enthusiastic crowd standing and applauding, Immersed in Music’s 2017-18 Course year came to a successful conclusion. Band members signed autographs and enjoyed getting their own copies of their bands’ CDs.

Everyone will take a well deserved break before summer camps begin the end of June.
