Immersed In Music staff will hold the second and final Orientation for the upcoming 2018-19 year this coming Monday, August 20, at 6:00 p.m. at The Londonderry School, 1800 Bamberger Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Then music will be emailed next week to all students planning to do Placements during the week of September 10.
Orientations are for all first time and returning IIM students in Young Rockers, Advanced Young Rockers, Rockers Prep, Rockers, Sound Engineering, and Video Production courses, as well as students interested in Songwriting, Live Sound Engineering, and Music Theory classes. If you have not yet registered, go to immersedinmusic.com, fill out the online registration forms and pay the associated Materials Fee in order to reserve a space.
Orientations provide an opportunity for parents and students to hear what’s new for the coming year, and ask questions about any of the course and class offerings. It is also a time to review operational procedures, finalize paperwork and, for Rockers course students, choose a time slot for Placements. Placements provide an opportunity for those students to show the staff what they can do musically. Seeing each student’s skill level enables staff to arrange the bands in a way that maximizes both musical growth and fun.
For Placements, the staff chooses a few songs and provides students joining either of the Rockers courses with lyrics, sheet, tab, chord charts, and an audio file of each song, so that each student can choose which way they want to learn one of the songs. They learn their chosen song to the best of their ability on their instrument and play what they have mastered at Placements. Music will be emailed in order for them to have at least two weeks to prepare for their Placement experience.
